Films: Vampire Bats (2005)
Alias: None
Type: Mutant
Location: Cave/Civilized Area
Height/Weight: That of average fruit bats.
Affiliation: Neutral
Summary: We've seen swarms of rodents across the streets, but how about the skies once more? Oh yes, the flying bloodsuckers are back, and they're...um, a vehicle for Lucy Lawless...yay?
History: The waters of Louisiana have been contaminated by some rather irresponsible corporate pollution. This is bad enough, but now, a swarm of large vampire bats have drank the water, and it has somehow mutated them into getting more fangs and more nerves for the world to be on. In other words, a swarm of meat-eaters is about to descend on some college teens.
Notable Kills: Nothing special.
Final Fate: After being lured into a chamber, the very same within the graveyard they call home, the bats are all gassed to Hell, killing the entire horde.
Powers/Abilities: None.
Weakness: Anything conventional, though they're attracted to certain sound frequencies.
Scariness Factor: 3-A swarm of blood-suckers should be scarier than this. And while it's unnerving to see these creatures take mob mentality to its logical conclusion, the CGI and cheesy animatronics hold this swarm back from greatness.
Trivia: -This film's production in New Orleans came to a halt when Hurricane Katrina made its presence known. The rest was done in Nova Scotia.
-For those wondering, Lucy Lawless is an actress most recognized for her role as the titular "Xena: Warrior Princess" back in the late 90s.
